Being a student at the University of Oregon, I understand that college is not just all about academics. Whether you’re an athlete or a fan of sports, attending a college with a strong program and atmosphere can add to the experience. Here are some of the best colleges for sports fans in the United States.

University of Alabama: With a total of 26 national championships in football, “Bama” definitely deserves to be on this list. The Crimson Tide is widely considered to be one of the most successful and dominant football programs in college history, and the school’s fans are known for their passion and devotion to the team. Roll Tide!

University of Kentucky: Kentucky is known for its college basketball, and the University of Kentucky is a top program in the sport. The Wildcats have won eight national championships, and their home games at Rupp Arena are always packed with enthusiastic fans. 

University of Michigan: Michigan has a storied football program with 11 national championships. The largest stadium in the country, nicknamed the “Big House” and their star head coach, Jim Harbaugh are just a couple of reasons to become a part of this loyal community. 

Duke University: Duke is known for its basketball program, which has won five national championships. With plenty of big names like JJ Redick, Zion Williamson, and Paulo Banchero, there is no shortage of stardom in Duke’s program. The Blue Devils have proved themselves to be one of the top powerhouses in NCAA basketball.

University of Oregon: You know I was not going to leave this one out. The University of Oregon is known for its football program and its distinctive uniforms. With such a big connection to Nike, the facilities and events are second to none. The Ducks have won two Rose Bowls and a national championship, and their fans are known for their enthusiasm and creativity. Sco Ducks!

Attending a college with a community so involved in sports has been something I am extremely thankful for. Walking around Eugene Oregon on a gameday and hearing the much anticipated “Shout” at the game is something I could never forget.
